Autistic Teenager Lands Job at Starbucks and Dubbed ‘Dancing Barista’: Why May Bring You To Tears

I would like to introduce you to a young teenager named Sam. This video, by Carly Fleischmann, of him working at a Starbucks and dancing while crafting tasty espresso drinks recently went viral on the Internet in just a matter of days.

But there’s more to the story of why Sam is now known as the “Dancing Barista”…

When he was offered a position to work at Starbucks, Sam told his parents that “for the first time in his life, it had real meaning.”

Sam was diagnosed with autism and like some people with autism Sam has a movement disorder, making it difficult to keep his body still. He never thought that he’d be able to work behind the bar because of his erratic movements, but his manager Chris believed in him and got Sam to channel his movements into dance.

It has taken Sam and Chris many shifts and hours to get Sam to do what he is doing in the video. But now, after all that work, Sam is known as the dancing barista. If it weren’t for Chris believing in Sam, he may never have believed in himself.

More people like Sam need to be seen, heard, and given a chance to “dance” in their own way, and truly thrive in life! Please show your support by sharing and reposting.
